Life Is Sweet! Nice To Meet You.
Released 15th February 2010 (UK) 16th February 2010 (USA)

Life Is Sweet! Nice to Meet You, the second Lightspeed Champion long player (released 15th/16th February 2010 through Domino Records), is an unassumingly epic collection of 12 pop songs, two instrumental intermissions, and one piano étude. Lightspeed’s early leaning towards American country dressings is traded here for a palette that draws on classical music and even musical theatre. Producer and mixer Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley) assembles the eclectic grab-bag of influences: joltingly ‘70s guitar and synth sounds, classical piano and Greek choruses shouting reprisals.

All songs written and arranged by Devonté Hynes.

i am drowning in the beautiful noises you have put together on this record. i definitely hear that "European" sound, you were speaking of a while ago, when asked about the album. This is just a great follow-up to Falling Off The Lavender Bridge. My favorite tracks are "The Big Guns Of Highsmith", "Sweetheart", and "Middle of the Dark". I loved how "Middle of the Dark" had a beginning, middle, and end all cut into seperate pieces... almost like 3 different, but somewhat similar songs put together for one beautiful pieces. I love the piano playing on "The Big Guns of Highsmith", and the way the heavy drums and background vocals come in. It is epic. I caught the Manliness you wanted to bring out on this album compared to Lavender Bridge, where the background vocals were done by emmy the great. I loved it. There's definitely a lot of digging up i'm gonna be doing whilst listening to this record. I'm sure i'm gonna hear more instruments and sounds you used the more i listen to the songs. But so far, from just the first listen through the entire album, i really liked it. If i'm lucky, i'll be able to make it to the free show at sound fix on the 16th... make up for the show i missed a month back :)

p.s. what happened to the message board?... am i the only one who doesn't see it anymore on the main page... or any page for that matter.

Dev's Movie Blog

One night, my room mate mentioned how it'd be pretty funny for someone to watch all the movies listed at the bottom of IMDB. I've started to, and it's not funny.
