I've only recently discovered this Gary Weis documentary. Filmed in 1979, this 66 minute long documentary follows the daily lives of two South Bronx gangs of New York. The Savage Skulls and the Savage Nomads.
The title of course refers to distance from Tiffany's in upper Manhattan in regards to where these two gangs would frequent in the south bronx.
The documentary is beautifully shot, at least I think it is. I tend to have a bias towards documentaries filmed in the mid 70's until the early / mid 90's, as well as anything depicting an older New York than the last 20 years.

I had a recent conversation about this actually. Why documentaries (no matter of which the subject is based on) are always worth filming. Just like why taking photographs of your day to day life is a good thing to do. It may not seem that interesting at the time, it may even be shot badly, just like a bad photograph, but time is a great natural editing suite, and really does wonders unto subject matters, of which at the time of you may couldn't have cared less about.

Dev's Movie Blog

One night, my room mate mentioned how it'd be pretty funny for someone to watch all the movies listed at the bottom of IMDB. I've started to, and it's not funny.
